Masterton Apostolic Church

Who are we?

We are an expanding group of people who love God and want to serve our community and region in whatever way we can. We are involved with other Churches in wanting the Wairarapa to be the best place to live and bring up our families. We believe this region is great, and we want to see it thriving spiritually and economically.

Our Leadership team (pictured below) is headed by Senior Minister Jonathan Hooker and his wife Margaret, with Jim and Janine Vollebregt, also Colin and Lorraine Goulton and Marcus and Jane Rees (not pictured).

Our Mission

"God has called us to be a large dynamic, many faceted, multicultural growing Church, spiritually, economically and politically affecting the Wairarapa region and beyond for God."

Like Paul in Acts 9:15 God has clearly shown us we are called to spend two thirds of our time, energy, and budget outside the "Church".

How do we do this?

By having services which are contemporary in music style, and with multi media messages that are relevant. We also have a number of groups which cater for infants, children, youth, and young adults. Also specific groups for men, women, mothers, and special interests.

We operate special work related programs for unemployed, and those with disabilities and an ever an increasing number of business ventures run by the Oasis Trust.

When?

Sunday mornings at 10.30 a.m. at Oasis, 2 Akura Road, Masterton. There are a number of other activities at various times and places during the week including cell groups. A bulletin with full details is available on request.

What are we?

We are part of the the Apostolic Church Movement in New Zealand with links around the world. The Apostolic Church world wide has roots in the revival in Great Britain in the early 1900's with the Church first being established in New Zealand in 1933. The Masterton Church had it's first public meeting on the 17th April 1983 and purchased 2 Akura Road on the 22nd April 1994.

What do we believe as a movement ?

Our beliefs are set out in ten tenets -

  1. The one true and living God, who eternally exists in three person's in unity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit
  2. The divine inspiration and authority of the Holy Scripture.
  3. The original perfection of creation; the inherent corruptness of humanity through the Fall; the necessity of repentance and regeneration by grace and through faith in Christ alone, and the eternal separation from God of the finally unrepentant.
  4. The virgin birth, sinless life, atoning death, triumphant Resurrection, ascension and continuing intercession of our Lord Jesus Christ, His second coming, and eternal Kingdom reign.
  5. The justification and sanctification of believers through the finished work of Christ, their security as they remain in Him, and their future resurrection in an incorruptible body.
  6. The sacrament of Baptism by immersion, and the Lord's supper.
  7. The baptism of the Holy Spirit for believers with supernatural signs, empowering the Church for it's mission in the world.
  8. The gifts of the Holy Spirit for the building up of the Church and ministry to the world.
  9. Christ's leadership of the Church through the ascension ministries of Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastor's and Teachers, for unity, maturity, and growth of the Church.
  10. The privilege and responsibility of wise stewardship of all that God has given, including the practise of tithing to the local Church.

Proud to serve the Wairarapa
